Gold Coast Italian Festival

About the Italian Festival

The Italian Festival is the official celebration of Italian Culture in Queensland, the festival commenced in 2007 as an in initiative of the Italian Government in partnership with the Queensland Government.

The Italian Festival commenced as part of Italian Week, an event that brings people from all walks of life together to experience Italian culture and lifestyle. The cultural festival is designed to preserve and promote an appreciation of culture and heritage of Italy.

A focal point of the Week is the Italian Street Festival held in New Farm Park which the inaugural event in 2015 welcomed a staggering 50,000 people hoping to get a taste of authentic Italian food, entertainment and history.  Vendors lined the street selling food and art. A row of Fiats added to the Italian charm and the celebration of Italian food and culture with live music filled the air.

The one day festival was an ideal send off to Italian Week. I’m happy to say that the Italian Festival organized a great party for the city of Brisbane. “All in all, we couldn’t have asked for a better turnout,” says Sorbello. “The amount of people who turned out on our first year really solidified the fact that Brisbane wanted this festival. We are already looking to make the Italian Festival bigger, better and even more authentic next year!”

The Festival brings people together as if they were part of a big family, just as it happens in Italy. Come and eat, drink, sing, dance and enjoy themselves yourself… and even people with no Italian origins identify with such a captivating environment.
